With the exciting display of the Canada Day fireworks behind us – and I must admit, that finally was something quite spectacular.  It’s time to plan for our next fireworks extravaganza.

The great thing about the Celebration of Lights is the actual celebrations that have grown around it.  The Sat and Wed of July and Aug have become a daily event at the beach, unless you want to fight the crowds and potentially the VPD for a good spot to view the fireworks.

But worry not.  Besides the considerable amount of eateries and entertainment in the West End, the City of Vancouver has some daily events planned to keep you occupied while reserving your killer beach spot for the fireworks.

SHOREFEST is now entering its 6th year as one of Vancouver’s largest, free community concert series.

Started in 2009 in conjunction with the Celebration of Light fireworks, it showcases some of Canada’s top musical acts in one of Vancouver’s most picturesque settings on the shores of English Bay. Over the course of 3 nights in the summer, hundreds of thousands of spectators gather at English Bay to enjoy the fireworks presentations while being entertained by acts on stages located on the Bathhouse Roof at English Bar and in the park at Sunset Beach.

This years lineup includes:

  • The Sheepdogs
  • 5440
  • The Odds
  • Current Swell
  • Spirit of the West
  • and more…

Located on the Bathhouse Roof in English Bay, The Keg Lounge offers the most VIP summer experience in BC. Featuring your favourite hors d’oeuvres by The Keg Steakhouse + Bar, live music from some of Canada’s best talent, and a cool lounge atmosphere, The Keg lounge is the perfect way to treat yourself and your friends to the quintessential Vancouver experience.

This 19+ area opens at 6:30PM, with entertainment beginning at 7:15PM. Past performers include: Serena Ryder, Mother Mother, Daniel Wesley, The Boom Booms, No Sinner, Good For Grapes and many more.

With panoramic views of English Bay and the fireworks, The Keg Lounge can only truly be described by experiencing it.  If you’d like to buy tickets click here.

A DINNER FIREWORKS CRUISE

This is probably one of the best ways to show up, get fed, watch the fireworks and go home.  Not to mention that it’s extremely romantic and luxurious.  Ships from all over the shore will be cruising into English bay for a front row seat to see the fireworks.  Almost all cruises include dinner and have a cash bar.  The great thing about a dinner cruise is that it’s affordable and you get to avoid the crowds.
